§TCTermsv1.4

The terms that cover this website.

Short, and narrower than you might expect. These terms govern your use of this website and nothing else — the work we do for clients is governed by a signed engagement contract, and where the two ever disagree, the contract wins.

§01

What these terms cover

These terms are an agreement between you and Arcwright Ltd about the use of this website. By browsing it you accept them. If you do not, stop using the site — that is the only consequence, and there is no account to close.

These terms do not create a client relationship, do not vary any engagement contract, and are not the terms under which we deliver work. Nothing you read here changes what a signed statement of work says.

§02

Using the site

You may read, print and share anything published here for your own or your organisation’s internal purposes. What you may not do is short and unsurprising:

  • Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its hosting, or any system connected to it.
  • Introduce malicious code, or attempt to interfere with the availability of the site for anyone else.
  • Scrape the site at a rate that degrades it for other visitors, or misrepresent your identity to circumvent a rate limit.
  • Republish substantial parts of the site as your own work, or use its contents to train a model that reproduces them.
  • Use the enquiry form to send unsolicited marketing, or to send anything unlawful.

We may suspend access from an address that does any of these, without notice. In practice we would rather tell you first, and we usually do.

§03

Accuracy of what is published here

Case studies, figures and engineering notes are published in good faith and are accurate as at their publication date. Systems change, clients reorganise, and a metric that was true in 2024 may not be true now. Nothing on this site is a warranty about the outcome of any future engagement.

Technical writing on this site describes what worked in a specific environment, under constraints that were particular to it. It is not advice about yours, and applying it to a production system without judgement is your decision rather than our recommendation.

§04

Nothing here is professional advice

This site describes services and publishes engineering opinion. It does not provide technical, security, regulatory, financial or legal advice on which you should rely, and no duty of care arises from reading it. Advice from us comes with a contract, an agreed scope and a named person accountable for it.

§05

Intellectual property

The design, code, text, figures and marks on this site belong to Arcwright Ltd or to its licensors, except where a page says otherwise. Client names and logos appear with permission and remain the property of those clients.

What you may do with material from this site
MaterialPermittedRequires permission
Engineering notes and articlesQuote with attribution and a link; print for internal useRepublishing in full; commercial redistribution
Case studiesCite and linkReproducing client names or figures in your own marketing
Client logos and marksNothing — they are not ours to licenseAll use, from the client concerned
Open-sourced toolingWhatever its published licence allowsNothing further — the licence is the agreement
§06

Availability

We make no promise that this website will be available uninterrupted. It is a static site behind a CDN and is generally very reliable, but we may take it down for maintenance, and a provider outage is a provider outage. Our service levels apply to platforms we run for clients under contract, not to this brochure.

§07

Links to other sites

Where we link to a client, a supplier, a standard or a repository, we do not control what is on the other end and are not responsible for it. A link is a reference, not an endorsement, and it is certainly not a statement that the destination’s privacy practices match ours.

§08

Liability

To the extent the law allows, we exclude liability for any loss arising from the use of this website — including lost profit, lost data, business interruption and any indirect or consequential loss.

We do not exclude or limit liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited. If you are a consumer rather than a business, your statutory rights are unaffected by anything in this document.

§09

Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from them are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction. If you contract with our Oslo studio, your engagement contract may specify Norwegian law — that contract governs the work; this document governs the website.

§10

Changes to these terms

We may revise these terms. The version number and effective date at the top of this page are the record, and a revision applies from its effective date. Continuing to use the site after that date is acceptance of the revised terms.

Something here unclear?

If a clause is ambiguous, tell us and we will rewrite it rather than argue about it. Terms nobody can follow protect nobody.
